January Chapter Meeting Standards, Codes and Technical Committees, oh my!

Join us for the first Chapter meeting of 2026.  Rick Heiden, HVAC Systems Development Engineer from Trane along with Emily Toto, Senior Manager, Codes and Standards at ASHRAE will discuss how standards make their way into building codes.

Abstract:
ASHRAE Standards influence model building codes but how does that happen?  There are so many ASHRAE Standards, which ones make their way into codes and how does that happen?  ASHRAE Technical Committees are cognizant for ASHRAE Standards Committees but what does that mean?  What are ASHRAE Technical Committees anyway and how do I learn more about them?

This session will provide answers to those questions as well as explain avenues for engagement.

Date: Tuesday, January 13, 2026

Time: 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM

Location: Trane Building 12
Reuben Trane Conference Room

Wisconsin Day on the Hill Government Outreach Event (GOE)

The 2026 Wisconsin legislative session is approaching quickly
(January 13 to March 19).

Planning is underway for a collective visit to Madison for our annual Government Outreach Event at the State Capitol, commonly known as “Day on the Hill". In the past two years Chapters members from Wisconsin have been able to meet with +30 legislators, including both representatives and senators. With participation from all Wisconsin chapters and some advance planning, we can expand our impact even further this year.

This event is slated to take place on Wednesday, February 25, 2062.  If you are interested in participating, please contact the La Crosse Area Chapter Government Affairs Chair, Andrew Wiegand at agw@michaelsenergy.com.
